When I close my eyes and let Rachel’s music pour over me I feel the rushing of cool water that refreshes and lifts my spirit. She’s a comforter and friend. We see life so similarly both wanting to embrace the small things that are imperfect yet real and soulful.

When I heard Rachel Wagner’s music for the first time I only realized at the end of the song that I had completely stopped everything I was doing. She had totally captivated me. I will tell you more about her later in my full post. But please take the time to click on her link to sample her new album, Untold. Riki is Kristi’s brother. When their mother called me about Kristi’s senior portraits, she also asked if we can get some pictures of Riki in his grandfather’s kimono. This kimono has been in the family for numerous generations, yet it is still in perfect condition. The process of putting on a kimono is extremely intricate, a tradition passed down from one generation to the next. Riki’s grandmother came over to help and I wanted to document the whole thing. I was completely captivated for the entire half hour. It’s always a joy to see people take their time to honor their traditions. Riki wears it well.
This is Kristi. She delights in everything creative, that much is very evident. From the little time I spent with her, I can tell that she comes alive when she gets behind the camera. She has a bigger collection of cameras than me! One of which is vintage passed down from her grandfather. Kristi, I hope you will keep exploring and seeing the world from a fresh eye all the time! Congratulations as you prepare for a brand new chapter of your life.
This is a beautiful senior portrait I did with Ally on her grandparents’ ranch. It was so gorgeous. We took a nice walk and she showed me all the areas in and around the ranch that is meaningful to her and her family. These pictures document a closing of a chapter in her life. It was so appropriate for us to take them in a place where she grew up. Congratulations Ally!
