Kristen & Josh’s Engagement (Sacramento, CA)

Here’s a story of boy meets girl. Josh first met Kristen in college. Having a crush on her, he purposely took a marketing class just so he can bump into her on campus. And sure enough they met, and the sparks went flying. They were instantly in love and the rest is history. To this day, those sparks are still dancing around every time I see them. But all the years together have built such a deep affection and understanding that can only exist in a couple who truly are meant to be. I am so excited about their engagement!

For this engagement session we went back to the place where they bumped  into each other on campus. It is a special place that brought them together. What a sweet ending for the boy who got the girl.

Lexie & Nick’s Engagement (San Francisco, CA)

Meet Lexie and Nick. Just look at them. Aren’t they the most gorgeous people? So this is my first impression of Nick…one day my husband comes home after meeting the new guy who replaced him at his previous job (Nick). He said, “Dude, I just met Superman!” “What?” “Yeah, the guy who replaced my position looks just like Superman!” This was right around 2006 when Superman Returns came out. My husband’s a bit of a super hero geek, so I automatically give him quite a bit of cred when it comes to this stuff. But I reserved judgement until I met him myself at a later function when he was with his “Lois”. Indeed.

Nick and Lois…I mean Lexie met at work and it was pretty much love at first sight. He took her for their first date here at Fort Point, San Francisco where we took these engagement photographs. Since then they go to Fort Point frequently for strolls and alone time. They even have a spot they’ve claimed as their own.

I love spending time with them because it is so very clear that they are very much in love and they have so much in common. They shared with me their love of music, the Beatles, Red Bull, Art, and simply enjoying the goodness of nature. In fact, it’s their love of Beatles that inspired me to do this shot (that I posted on their teaser) as it’s reminiscent of a scene from “Across the Universe.” I took this shot after we’ve called it a day and were walking back to the car. I was so inspired that the moment I saw this patch of grass, I just knew we couldn’t miss it. Like I said…they inspire me. I can’t wait for their wedding in August when I can be inspired some more!

Albert & Candace’s Engagement (San Francisco, CA)

This is Albert and Candace. One VERY windy day in May I spent an afternoon with them at Fort Point, San Francisco. It is in my humble opinion one of the most unique and photogenic places in SF.  They are two very wonderful, talented and busy people. It’s been a pleasure getting to know the two of them. Seeing them stop for an afternoon to relax from their wedding planning and busy lives to enjoy one another’s love was a treat. Congratulations on your wedding Albert and Candace!

Lester & Esther’s Engagement (Sacramento, CA)

Meet Lester and Esther. They were one of my many victims who I pulled out of bed very very early in the morning for the sake of getting great light and avoiding the crowds. As much as being of my my most organized couples who are always 10 steps ahead of everyone else in planning, they were troopers. Their love was clear, their connection was real. If they can weather early morning photo shoots in the cold with a crazy photographer, they are prepared for anything in marriage.

Vivian & Drew’s Engagement (San Francisco, CA)

Vivian is a friend of mine from high school. We’ve lost touch over the years, but thanks to Facebook we reconnected as I did with so many of my childhood friends. Sometime last year I got a call from her out of the blue and she told me that she is engaged! I was thrilled that she called me almost immediately after being engaged to make sure I was available for her wedding. Of course!!!

Last month I visited her and her and Drew in their home in San Francisco. This beautiful little home is something very special to them as it’s their first place together. It was here that they realized how much they are meant for one another. So I wanted to capture their lives, love and laughter here. I hope they can look back at these pictures years and years from now and remember all the beauty and magic that started here.

Isaac and Alison’s Proposal : The Whole Story! (Loomis, CA)

I’m not sure if you remember, but about 3 weeks ago I photographed Isaac getting down on one knee and proposing to Alison. I’m sure you are all very interested in knowing how it all happened, so I’m finally ready to let you see the whole story! But first I should tell you how it all lead up to this moment.

I got a phone call one day and on the other line was this very excited young man talking my ear off about how he’s very much in love with his girlfriend (Isaac, I wouldn’t be teasing you if I didn’t think the world of you…lol!). Things have suddenly all fallen together for him and he just knew, just KNEW that it was the right moment to propose. So he asked if I could be there to capture this special moment for him. While coordinating the photography end, he had also gotten his entire family, her entire family (including out of town siblings), friends and coworkers on staging something that she thought was a simple stroll and lunch. What a stud!

So my role was simple. I waited on location and pretended to be an on-site photographer shooting for the venue. All the while I had the very important job of guarding the precious vintage diamond ring that was hidden in a pot. When Isaac and Alison strolled to our planned spot (that I chose for the perfect lighting) he got down on one knee while I madly snapped away. At that point Alison was paying no attention to me but focused completely on the man on his knees. Let’s be honest, what girl cares about the camera when there’s a diamond ring in her face?

That is how I came to be a part of this very lovely moment. So okay boys, please give me a call when you decide to pop the big question!

Eliza and Bill’s Engagement (Carmichael, CA)

Meet Eliza and Bill, the beautiful couple who’s wedding I will be photographing this weekend. We took a stroll through this gorgeous local park that Eliza visited often as a child. We were drenched in the most delicious light that day. I wish the Sacramento sun could always be this cooperative! I love their fun loving playfulness.

Isaac + Alison : The Proposal & Engagement (a teaser)

I know this really isn’t enough to tell the beautiful story of this proposal…but I’m going to have to leave you hanging until I finish the entire session! I’m so cruel!

This lovely vintage ring is dated back to the 1930's. You did good Isaac!

He sweeps her off her feet.
