Looking back at these images I find that they deeply move me. I think I’m moved in different ways for different reasons while most of the time I’m not able to pin point exactly why. I knew Sheree and Ping during a very transitional period in my life. I was living and working in Palo Alto for the first few years after college. Just discovering myself as a green designer in a brave new world.
Sheree was my roommate and provided a lot of comfort and companionship to me during one of the more lonely and lost times of my life. We would just plop down on the couch and chit chat after a long day of work. There were a few times when she took me to some of her favorite places at Stanford University on those long summer evenings. For a fresh grad in a new place, a stroll through a university campus was just the familiarity that I needed.
Ping proposed to Sheree on exactly the same day that my husband proposed to me 11 years ago (totally unplanned). We then exited our house and singleness together and went our separate ways. This shoot was the first time I’ve spent a significant amount with them in all these 11 years. They are so loving and kind…just the way I remember them.
We came full circle back to Stanford University for our maternity shoot. We strolled through all the parts of the campus that was of significance to them. Such as the dorm where they first met and the lake where they spent a lot of their time. This day was a perfect day where we breathed in the freshness of the sun. I had a perfect time catching up to their lives as well as hearing about all their dreams for this new baby. It was like those 11 years never existed between us. It’s funny how life works…true friendships are never too far away.
Congratulations Ping and Sheree! I’m so happy for you!
