Though I’ve never shared them before, I shot these images 2 years ago. It was to celebrate Sarah & Elton’s 10 year wedding anniversary in 2010. This month they are celebrating their 12th year of wedded bliss. I’m posting these images as a celebration. A celebration of their love, as well as my friendship with each of them.

There are people who are put into our lives to be a source of love, encouragement and comfort through trials and adversities. Sarah has been there with me. We met each other at summer camp when we were both awkward teenagers. She in her thick glasses and Dr. Martens and I in a Cookie Monster t-shirt and slightly puffy hair. We then became roommates all through our years together in college. So we saw each other through every heart break as well as recognized the sparks of new love for the other before we even had the guts to admit these things to ourselves.

In the summer of 2000, Sarah married Elton a month after I married my husband. I saw her standing at the alter marrying the man she had loved through much of college, he was everything she wished for. There is little in life that can compare to the joy of seeing a dear friend finding happiness. We have spent countless hours talking about the highs and lows of our marriages over the last 12 years.

I cannot image her life without Elton. He has been the constant that has kept her grounded, strong, and growing. Sarah and I look at each other now and we’re both proud of how far we’ve come on this road of life we’ve travelled together. But we both know that neither of us would be who we are now without the anchors that God gifted us at our sides. Congratulations, my dear friends. I love you!

I was here by accident and suddenly it was nice to be here to stay. BTW how do you get this smooth ‘fog’, ‘into-the-sun’ effect? It looks so nice and dreamy.

Not many people can capture Elton without a weird awkward “Chandler” smile. Nicely don Calvina! Excellent photos of an excellent couple.
